We are a local association comprised of citizens who serve in a voluntary
capacity, working together to promote the educational enhancement of our High
School youth about other cultures of the world. In 1956, President Dwight D.
Eisenhower challenged cities in the United States to assist our country in
bettering international understanding by direct cultural exchange programs based
on City to City, Person to Person relationships.

When a community bonds together in any group, the power of the human mind is
unsurpassable. Together, people of all ages can reach out and accomplish the
unthinkable, such as peace on earth. The reason why we suffer the consequences
of hate, terrorism, and war is because of a deficiency in the deep understanding
and acceptance of the differences in the cultures across the world. Through the
hard work of a determined Board of Directors with the support from City Hall and
the International Exchange Commission, Santa Clara Sister Cities Association
pierces through the crust of hate and helps the world advance towards peace, a
relationship at a time.

In order to finance these exchange programs and other culturally educational
events and opportunies offered to High School students, the Santa Clara Sister
Cities Association is fundraising all year long. Events such as the Annual
Chicken BBQ, Street Dance, Card Party, and 9-11 Concert are just some of the
many opportunities
for not only students, but the community as well to get involved. Sa nta Clara
Sister Cities Association welcomes long time supporters and newcomers interested
in meeting and working with friendly people dedicated to building relationships
that extend from the local community to other parts of the world
