ABOUT SANTA CLARA SISTER CITIES
Santa Clara Sister Cities Association (SCSCA) is a member of the Sister Cities International organization and is located in the city of Santa Clara, California. SCSCA activities are supported by the City of Santa Clara as a local community organization. We are also registered with the Northern California Sister Cities.
Connect Globally. Thrive Locally.
SCSCA brings different cultures together, connecting people to people and building relationships.
The goal of the organization is to enrich the lives of our Santa Clara community. We do this by encouraging cultural exchange programs and opportunities. Practically speaking, SCSCA is invested in supporting home stay exchanges between our Santa Clara Youth Committee and our designated sister cities. Throughout the year we also host community events to encourage cultural exchange relationships with the wider community.
Santa Clara has three designated Sister Cities that we have worked closely with for many years, participating in annual youth exchanges, cultural events and city hall visits:
Coimbra, Portugal ~ established August 4, 1972,
Izumo, Japan ~ established October 11, 1986
Limerick, Ireland ~ established August 1, 2014.
Santa Clara currently has a 3 year Friendship City relationship with Icheon City of the Republic of Korea. This relationship was established on April 23, 2019.
